Senior Oregon transfer and sharp shooter, Ashley Buis tells us about ringing in the New Year with a win and about just how bittersweet this last semester of college will be…
Going into the New Year I’ve had some time to reflect on my time at Stetson so far. I spent an entire year without being able to compete due to the transferring rules of the NCAA, and I never thought that year would end! But now as I look forward to my last college semester, the time has
definitely flown by faster than I had imagined.
Graduating is a bittersweet mixture of feelings. When we are younger, or even as freshmen in college, we feel like our senior year is so far away. As I look back I embrace
all of my college experiences and no matter how much I can’t wait to graduate, I know I will miss every part of being a student athlete (maybe not the conditioning or early morning classes though!).
As a transfer I’ve had to learn to adjust and adapt to a new system and new players. I love my teammates because we are all out to help one another succeed. Since I’ve been at Stetson I’ve watched our team grow in many aspects on and off the court. As a senior my goal is to help my teammates as much as I can. From practice to games, I want to better myself and my team.
Opening up our conference and New Year with a big win was very exciting. I believe our teams’ dedication to work hard will produce great outcomes in the second half of our season. GO HATTERS!
